Edgar Allan Guzman considers Nora Auror a second mom

Working with Nora Aunor in “Sa Ngalan ng Ina” gave Edgar Allan Guzman the jitters.

The 21-year-old actor, who plays one of Aunor’s sons in the TV5 drama miniseries, admitted he consciously avoided flubbing his lines right on his first scene with the Superstar. “Sumasama ang loob ko kapag may take two, kaya pinaghahandan ko talaga ’yung mga eksena namin. Minsan lang siyang magkamali,” he told Inquirer Entertainment after the celebrity screening of the indie rom-com “Ligo Na U, Lapit Na Me” at Cinema 4 of Gateway Mall last Sunday.

The film won for Guzman the best actor award in the 2011 Cinemalaya festival.

He said he’s very fortunate to join the cast of “Sa Ngalan.” He recalled Aunor, 58, behaving like a real mother to him behind the cameras.

“Sabi niya sa ’kin, ‘anak’ niya na raw ako,” he said. “Binibiro pa nga ako na aampunin niya raw ako!”

In turn, he said he was glad to hear those words, even if they were said in jest. “Meron na ’kong pangalawang nanay,” he beamed.

‘Good job’

To support her anak-anakan, Aunor was in the audience of the “Ligo Na U” screening, which was likewise attended by fans, university student leaders, campus journalists and the rest of the cast. “Napakagaling na artista ng ‘anak’ ko,” Aunor said.

“Ligo Na U”—which starts its commercial run today—explores the ups and downs of having a “friends with benefits” relationship and features intimate bed scenes between Guzman and Mercedes Cabral.

Was Guzman embarrassed, especially during the screening which his mother and friends also attended?

“Noong una nahihiya ako kasi daring ’yung mga love scenes namin, tapos parang one-night stand pa ’yung dating,” he admitted.

But what’s important, he added, was that her mom liked the movie and is proud of his efforts. “She actually laughed and commented that my butt has gotten bigger!”

But Aunor, after seeing Guzman baring skin with Cabral, joked: “’Di ka nagpaalam sa ’kin na gumagawa ka na pala ng ganun!”
