MANILA, Philippines—On the day her slain mother was cremated, actress Cherry Pie Picache said her grieving family was counting on the Quezon City police to “conduct a more thorough investigation to make sure that the right people will be put to jail.”

“We’re not in a hurry to find out who the perpetrators are. We want the police to be able to identify them correctly,” she said of the still unidentified assailants who stabbed 75-year-old Zenaida Sison dead at her Quezon City home Friday last week in what the police later ruled as a robbery.

Sison was cremated Wednesday afternoon.

The 44-year-old actress said her family had their own suspects in the gruesome crime. “We (and the police) update each other… We are discussing and putting together all the information that we’ve gathered. We want to help in any way we can to ensure that the right people are arrested.”

Picache confirmed reports that a female psychic had approached her claiming to have communicated with her mother shortly after the crime and “seen” her killers’ faces in a dream.

“I really didn’t know (the psychic) personally. She was the one who reached out to me. She was hesitant at first because she didn’t know how I would react,” Picache told the Inquirer. “I told her that the family was open to any information that could help solve the case.”

Five days after the killing, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Chief Supt. Richard Albano appealed for patience on the part of the Picache family. “This will surely be solved, but if we rush and set a deadline, we might veer off the right track. We just want to be certain,” Albano said. With a report from Jaymee Gamil
