Boy Abunda’s got the ‘Buzz’ back

ABUNDA. Better than ever.

ABUNDA. Better than ever.

We were happy to see Boy Abunda back on “The Buzz” last week, after many days of having to battle a serious liver ailment that sidelined him in a big way, and worried his friends and fans a lot. Even better, Boy wasn’t just back, he was in top form, dynamically finding his way back into the thick of things, like he’d never even taken a medical breather from the show.

In fact, his “comeback” performance last week was better than ever, with less of the stress and strain evident months ago from having too much on his plate as TV host, talent and PR manager, advocate, endorser—etc.!

Boy’s weeks away from the grind of work, work, work must have given him a new outlook on life and all that jazz, as well as insights into why he’s been so driven. We trust that the learning process has taught him to be more selective about what he chooses to focus on, and to not take his health for granted.

For a long moment there, people who cared for him weren’t sure he would make it, or what shape he would be in after he survived what could be his toughest medical crisis to date. Well, their worst fears have very happily been proven wrong, so let’s gratefully celebrate the extremely happy outcome—like Christmas in September!—and hope for the very best for “our” Boy in this bright, new and healthy chapter of his charmed and most eventful life!

And Donita, too

Other celebrities have recently experienced significant changes in their lives and/or careers: When Donita Rose came back out of semiretirement months ago to co-host the new TV show, “Everybody Happy,” we were among the first to cheer the fact, and hoped that the new show would lead to other and better things—like, possibly, a weekday morning show like the one she left a long time ago?

Well, that item on our wish list could be happening. Sometime back, we caught Donita on “Unang Hirit,” but weren’t sure if it was just a guesting stint. Then, we caught her again on the morning show last Monday, and it more clearly looked like she was being tapped to do the show’s cooking segment—hopefully on a more permanent basis? We hope she will end up doing both “Everybody Happy” and “Unang Hirit,” to effect her prolonged TV comeback.

Finally, we note that Donita is a bit overweight for TV—but, she’s clearly doing something about it, so the day may come real soon that she’ll be back in all her beauteous and gentle-souled glory. —We’re definitely looking forward to that happy prospect, so go, Donita, go!
