MANILA, Philippines—Singer-actor and television host Billy Crawford pleaded not guilty to two counts of disobedience to a person or agent in authority and one count of malicious mischief during his arraignment Tuesday at the Taguig Regional Trial Court (RTC).
Judge Bernard Bernal of Taguig Metropolitan Trial Court branch 74 presided over the arraignment proceeding for Crawford’s case.
Crawford arrived at the Taguig Hall of Justice at around 8:30 a.m and the arraignment was finished at 10 a.m.
The cases were filed in connection with an incident last September 7 when the actor, reported to be drunk, went berserk and smashed a glass door of Taguig City Police Precinct 7 at Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.
Lawyer Lucas Carpio Jr., Crawford’s lead counsel, said that the pieces of evidence were not sufficient to convict the “It’s Showtime” host.
The pre-marking of the evidence is scheduled on November 5 and the trial proper on December 1.
Carpio also said that the charges filed were not subject for mediation.
