Annabelle Rio, accountant: “Smart, competent and gorgeous news people like Atom Araullo should be given more breaks not only to move their careers upward but also to show other, more nervous newbie hosts out there how news gathering and news casting are really done.”
Other notes:
Tessie Tinawin, housewife: “I’m happy to see Jessica Soho subbing as news anchor on GMA 7’s ‘24 Oras.’ Quite noticeable is her change in outfits that complements her slimmer figure of late. Good for her! Broadcasters of her caliber and substance should be fit not only for health reasons, but also to attract more viewers. Keep it up, Ms Soho!”
Lilian Maling, televiewer: “Among her contemporaries, Bea Alonzo has the upper hand in terms of acting ability. This is in full display in her latest teleserye, where she plays dual roles and tackle them with utmost believability. She projects well on screen, and has a speaking voice that is pleasing to the ears even in highly charged dramatic scenes. How I wish other actresses her age were as gifted!”
Mon Afurong, teacher: “The Voice Kids” winner, Lyca Gairanod, has the potential of being a better actress than singer. I have reservations about her singing—she has a tendency to go out of tune. But, when I saw her acting up a storm in ‘Maalaala Mo Kaya’—goodness, the girl can act!
“Of course, she was just portraying herself, but it was quite a feat especially for one who was acting on television for the first time. As for her singing, I suggest she takes voice lessons.”
Tim Cuevas, student: “What’s happening to the hosts of ‘It’s Showtime?’ Anne Curtis, Vice Ganda, Vhong Navarro and, most recently, Billy Crawford have gotten embroiled in controversies. I’m particularly saddened for Billy because he is such a likable guy. I hope Billy’s case will be the last to befall the ‘It’s Showtime’ hosts. I can’t imagine Kuya Kim Atienza sporting ‘bracelets’ on TV!”
