TRILLO. Portrays a physician in “Sa Puso ni Dok.”
The medical drama series, “Sa Puso ni Dok,” has made Dennis Trillo aware of the travails of a community doctor. The show tackles the love story of two doctors, played by Trillo and Bela Padilla, as well as issues related to health care.
Dennis notes, “There are a lot of doctors leaving the Philippines, even as it is in dire need of their services.” He watched different TV series like “Grey’s Anatomy” to prepare for his role, and did research on medical terms and hospital procedures. There were also consultants on the set to guide actors on correct pronunciation and procedure. His character may look tough but has a soft heart.
The role has helped the actor overcome his fear of driving a motorcycle (he had a minor mishap some years ago). He was happy for the break before taping of the series began. He explains, “I don’t like my assignments to overlap. I want to rest so that, when a project comes along, I can focus on it—and my performance won’t appear half-baked!”
