New complications confound viewers

PASCUAL. Two female leads compete for his attention.

New complications and other plot convolutions on some ongoing TV drama series are causing viewers to scratch their heads in befuddlement and consternation:

On “Pure Love,” the female protagonist was given a way out of her fated death—if she could get three people to shed tears of loss and sorrow for her.

Since it started months ago, the show’s plot and subplots have gone this way and that—but, what do you know? No tears produced or harvested thus far!

Shouldn’t the ditzy protagonist stop hemming and hawing and focus on this essential and all-important task before the series ends? Just asking…

On “Hawak-Kamay,” the plotting twists and turns sometimes end up in an improbable tangle. Get a load of this: Nikki Gil ended her romance with the love of her life, Piolo Pascual, because he chose to take care of some orphans instead of going away with her to work on a cruise ship.

Left high and dry, Piolo’s character has found solace in the friendship of a female lawyer, Iza Calzado, and they end up liking each other a lot.

However, Nikki returns from overseas and unexpectedly becomes a singing and recording star! “It just so happens” that it’s Piolo who wrote the songs that she’s assigned to record, so they have to work together despite their acrimonious and bitter back story!

This leaves Iza high and dry—and the two female leads now find themselves having to compete for Piolo’s romantic attention. Now, we all know that Piolo is the Papa for all seasons and reasons, but this is—more than a bit much!
