When we feel depressed and hopeless, it’s wise to remember the Supreme Being’s message of love and concern in the Vedas: “I sit within your hearts as your Supersoul. As everyone’s master, I shall give you good counsel so you may never forget Me and eventually come back home to Me.
“Your decision to give up material enjoyment to serve me will lead to good fortune and a blessed, blissful life. A person who isn’t fully self-realized becomes a victim of illusory energy. Many rebellious kings fell from grace because of false perceptions about their positions of authority.
“While lost in the violence of conditional life, you must understand that anything material has its starting point, growth, deterioration and destruction. No one should attach himself to perishable things. It’s ideal to devote yourself to My loving service and earnestly execute your duties in whatever position you hold.
“Live honestly. Do not beget children out of sense gratification, and take charge of the welfare of the people you serve. Everyone is subjected to the stringent laws of nature.
“We should not be distracted by life’s dualities, but should always be consistent in our devotional service for the Supreme!”
