Estela de la Rosa, insurance consultant: “Heto ako, basang-basa sa ulan, walang masisilungan, walang malalapitan…’ This line from Aegis’ hit song comes to mind whenever I think of ‘The Voice Kids” grand champion, Lyca Gairanod. Yes, she eked out a living in a garbage dump but, with her victory, her life has taken a sharp turn—for the better.

“Watching her life story on ‘Maalaala Mo Kaya’ was truly touching. Her life story should be shown to children in the dump, to give them hope and inspire them to dream of a better and brighter future. Congratulations, Lyca!”

Jose Mari Maycacayan, marketing consultant: “Congratulations to the filmmakers, actors and organizers of Cinemalaya X. For me, the best entries were ‘Sundalong Kanin,’ ‘Dagitab,’ ‘Children Show,’ ‘The Janitor’ and ‘Kasal.’

Icko Gonzales, film enthusiast: “After watching ‘Starting Over Again,’ ‘She’s Dating The Gangster,’ Cinemalaya X and ‘Barber’s Tales,’ my faith and appreciation for Philippine cinema have been rekindled!”

Tom Castor, office employee: “If his superb direction in ‘Bwakaw’ is any indication,  Jun Lana’s ‘Barber’s Tales’ is a must-see. The film is also an acid test of Eugene Domingo’s clout in a drama.”
