5 awards for Lav at Locarno fest

Apart from winning the Golden Leopard (Best Film) and Boccalino d’Oro (for lead actress Hazel Orencio), Lav Diaz’s “Mula sa Kung Ano ang Noon” won three other awards at the 67th Locarno International Film Festival in Switzerland. Diaz’s five-and-a-half-hour epic also won the Fipresci International Film Critics’ Prize, the Junior Jury/Environment is Quality of Life Prize and the International Federation of Film Societies’ (IFFS) Don Quixote Prize. “We had a problem in packing all those awards,” said Diaz.
