“Life goes on for him,” talent manager Noel Ferrer said of his ward, TV5 newscaster-host Paolo Bediones, who became a trending Twitter topic on Sunday after an alleged sex video featuring him and a yet-unidentified woman made the rounds in social media.
The keywords “Paolo Bediones” sat in the third slot of the local trending list as of 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
Netizens had a field day poking fun at the news anchor, calling him “Paolo Videones.” TV5 was quick to “firmly express” support for its talent, saying in a statement that the incident was “an attempt to smear his reputation.”
However, TV5 also said it “had no involvement or desire to intrude [in this] purely personal and private matter.” In any case, the network “strongly” disapproved of “the malicious and wanton publication of the video, [which] violates … cybercrime laws.” Bediones has three programs on TV5.
A source told the Inquirer that the alleged video was shot when Bediones was still with GMA 7. The source said Bediones disclosed it to TV5 prior to his transfer in 2009.
