The Department of Science and Technology showcases its latest discoveries and scientific innovations from July 24-28 at the 2014 National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) at SMX Convention Center, SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City.
This year’s theme is “Philippines: A Science Nation Meeting Global Challenges.” The expo features programs and fora that focus on science-based wellness, e-Health technology and healthy lifestyle. “Poor health and medical care are important concerns, so we need to increase our ability to address key health issues,” states Dr. Jaime C. Montoya.
Highlights include initiatives from the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD), one of DOST’s three planning councils responsible for coordinating and monitoring health-research activities in the country.
Lecturers include doctors Demetria Bongga, Isagani Padolina and Lilibeth Salvador-Reyes. The e-Health forum facilitates health-information exchange, like maternal and child health and technology. Other activities: Health and wellness for the elderly, balance training and free checkup for chronic conditions like hypertension. Visit nstw.dost.gov.ph.
