Fifty Shades of Grey sizzles with movie trailer

Fifty Shades Of Grey - Official Trailer (Universal Pictures) HD

The official trailer for “Fifty Shades of Grey,” a highly anticipated movie adaptation of the novel with the same name, has been released, garnering over 3 million views on YouTube within the first 12 hours since posting time.

The adaptation stars Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey, a young, attractive and successful business magnate with a troubled past, and Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele, a college senior who becomes involved with him after interviewing the entrepreneur for her student newspaper. It is directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, with E. L. James, the author of the “Fifty Shades” book series, serving as a producer alongside Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti.

Since the broadcast of the trailer, “Christian Grey,” “Jamie Dornan,” and the theme song “Crazy In Love” have trended on Twitter.

The movie is based on the first installment in a trilogy of erotic romance novels which have become famous worldwide for their explicit depiction of BDSM (bondage and discipline with sadism and masochism) culture, including aspects of dominance/submission, sadism/masochism, and bondage. It has also been the center of various controversies, with some critics claiming it gives an inaccurate and unhealthy portrayal of BDSM, which, they say, glorifies violence against women. It has also come under scrutiny for its origins as a “Twilight fanfiction.”

Despite the criticism it has received, the “Fifty Shades” series has been translated into 52 languages and sold over 100 million copies around the world, topping various best-seller lists as well as becoming the fastest-selling paperback of all time.

“Fifty Shades of Grey” is slated to be released in cinemas on Valentine’s Day of 2015.
