The annual Philippine Popular Music Festival (PhilPop) songwriting competition crowns its third winner tomorrow, Saturday, at the grand finals in Meralco Theater, Pasig City.
Culled from over 2,500 entries, this year’s Top 12 songs are: Davey Langit’s “No Girlfriend Since Break” (to be performed by Luigi D’Avola); Venelyn San Pedro’s “The Only One” (Thor); Toto Sorioso’s “Awit Mo’y Nandito Pa” (Aldrich Talonding and James Bucong);
Jude Gitamondoc and Therese Marie Villarante’s “Song on a Broken String” (Nicole Asensio); Soc Villanueva’s “Babalikan Mo Rin Ako” (Nikki Gil); Daryl Ong’s “Torpe” (Kris Lawrence); Jungee Marcelo’s “Salbabida” (Kyla); Mike Villegas’ “Dear Heart” (Kiana Valenciano);
Cecilia Bocobo and Isaac Joseph Garcia’s “Kung Akin ang Langit” (Mcoy Fundales and Clara Benin); Toto Sorioso’s “Langit Umaawit” (Tom Rodriguez); Q-York’s “Qrush On You” (Jay-R and Elmo Magalona); Allan Feliciano and Isaac Joseph Garcia’s “Hangout Lang” (Duncan Ramos and Young JV).
The grand winner will take home a cash prize of P1 million. The most-downloaded entry up to finals night from the online music portal SPINNR will win the People’s Choice Award. Allan Policarpio
