MANILA, Philippines—Actor Aljur Abrenica now wants to break free.

The 24-year-old actor and model petitioned the Quezon City Hall of Justice to end his contract with GMA-7.

A report from the Philippine Entertainment Portal website said that Abrenica cited in his complaint that his career plans did not jibe with the network’s plans.

His contract with GMA ends in 2017.

The actor-model was with his legal counsel, Ferdinand Topacio, who was hoping for a “fruitful dialogue” with the television network.

Abrenica said he has not received offers from other networks, but the Kapuso actor said he wants to pursue other things that are not in the plans of GMA.

“[My career] is no longer aligned with their plans for me and the plans I envision for myself,” he said.

A report from news tabloid Bandera also detailed Abrenica’s complaints against the network.

“Meron kasi akong timeline para sa aking career. I note down the things na gusto kong gawin – movies, TV shows, recording, concerts. Lahat iyan ay nakaayos sa listahan ko kaya lang iba naman ang nasa isipan nila. They want to package me otherwise.

(I have a timeline for my career. I note down the things that I want to do—movies, TV shows, recording, concerts. All of those are on my list, but they are thinking of something else.)

“Like yung title ng album ko – gusto nila yung bastos na title na ni sa panaginip ay hindi ko ma-imagine. Para akong bold actor sa tingin nila. Saan ka nakakita ng manager na ang gustong title ng album ko ay ‘Nota’?

(Like the title of my album—they want something crude that I won’t imagine even in my dreams. They regard me as a bold actor. Where will you find a manager who wants my album title to be ‘Nota?’)

GMA-7 said it has yet to receive a copy of the complaint.

“GMA Network has not yet received a copy of the complaint filed by Mr.Aljur Abrenica. A statement will be issued when we have received and reviewed the contents of the complaint,” Felipe Gozon, chairman and Chief Executive Officer of GMA Network, said in a statement.

Abrenica was one of the winners of GMA-7’selebrity-search show “Starstruck Season 4” in 2006.
