MANILA, Philippines – Unlike some of his contemporaries and fellow popular celebrities, Piolo Pascual shuns social media networking sites. He said this was to avoid cyber bullies.

Pascual, 37, said in an interview on ‘Tapatan ni Tunying’ Thursday that he has decided to keep out of Twitter and Facebook instead of continuously reading the comments of online bashers.

“I stopped for a year. I don’t do Facebook anymore. I don’t do Twitter. I only do Instagram because I like taking photos. I like keeping a journal of what I do,” Pascual said.

He admitted that he is hurt by persistent rumors that he is gay.

“For me masakit, kasi sana kilala mo ko bago mo ko sabihan ng ganyan. So kibit balikat na lang. Importante sa kin, kilala ko sarili ko, kilala ako ng diyos ko, kilala ako ng pamilya ko, at kilala ako ng anak ko.”

(For me, it hurts because I hope you know me first before you tell me things like that. I just ignore the rumors. What’s important for me is that I know myself, my God knows me, my family knows me, and my son knows me.)
