Luz Lingcong, televiewer: “I think the part where Alex Gonzaga makes some small talk with child contestants on ‘The Voice Kids’ is irrelevant and distracting. What is the purpose of that segment? If it aims to put the child at ease, it is a dismal flop, because Alex is a poor host and motivator.”
Other notes:
Nene Lopez, teacher: “I have always been a fan of Vilma Santos, but I agree that Nora Aunor should have been conferred the National Artist award—and Ms. Santos, too, in due time. Both are exceptional actresses whose bodies of work are part of our cinematic treasures!”
Jonathan Catunao, engineer: “I’m disturbed by how ‘Eat Bulaga’ misuses the word ‘bayanihan.’ I have been watching its ‘Bahay ni Juan’ portion for some time, and it only occurred to me recently how misleading it can be. The title of the segment is a contortion of the word, and even its theme song mentions it!
“The bayanihan I know is about Filipinos helping one another for the betterment of our nation. But, the bayanihan ‘Eat Bulaga’ teaches its viewers is about mendicancy and hopelessness.”
