Quick on the heels of the controversial Presidential snub, Gabriela Women’s Party and Peace for Life presented actress Nora Aunor with a citation declaring her “Artista ng Bayan,” for her work in the 1976 anti-US bases drama film, Lupita Aquino-Kashiwahara’s “Minsa’y Isang Gamu-Gamo.”
The awarding ceremony, held at the National Council of Churches in the Philippines on Friday, July 4 (Philippine-American Friendship Day), coincided with a forum that tackled the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement and its effect on women and children. Aunor told the Inquirer in an SMS: “It’s an honor to receive this recognition from Gabriela and Peace for Life.” Bayani San Diego Jr.
