EIGENMANN. Portrays gay father in “Dading

Gabby Eigenmann has played kontrabida roles in “Umulan Man o Umaraw,” “Marimar” and “Broken Vow,” so his new role in “Dading” as gay dad, Carding, comes as a surprise.

He shares, “I’ve been patient for a long time—I’ve been in show biz for 17 years! I wasn’t really looking for lead roles, but I wanted something that would make people notice me—so, ‘Dading’ is a welcome challenge!”

He believes that his role in “Dading” is different from “My Husband’s Lover.” He explains, “The Dennis Trillo-Tom Rodriguez starrer is a love story. ‘Dading’ is about a gay man who assumes daddy duties to the baby girl of his ex-girlfriend-turned-best friend, Beth (played by Glaiza de Castro), who’s been abandoned by her boyfriend.”

“Dading” is Gabby’s first title role, which is why he is very excited about the project. He enthuses, “There’s pressure on me, because I want to be truthful to the character. I am not gay, but I have friends who are—and I’m learning from them!”
