FB baby shower for Princess’ Ellie
Princess Punzalan and her American hubby Jay Field hosted a “virtual” baby shower for their adorable daughter, Ellie, on Facebook on June 16. My sis Cess and I have seen each other through thick and thin, sick or sin.
Now that she’s a brand-new mom, I feel her joy bursting out of the computer screen every time we chat. Princess’ world revolves around her King Jay and Queen Ellie. Cess shares her post-baby shower thoughts:
“We are so blessed! We can see God’s grace in so many ways. Friends and acquaintances have given us baby stuff that their own kids have outgrown. Du’n pa lang, almost complete na our needs.
“The virtual event on Facebook was basically to get in touch with friends and family from different parts of the world, to announce the arrival of our bundle of joy. We asked people, too, for their well wishes, words of love, advice and prayers for Ellie.
Words of love

“Jay and I asked for tips on taking care of an infant, plus other parenting and personal stories. The reception was wonderful! I heard from people I had not spoken to in years! We received so many precious words of love and encouragement.

I have also set up an e-mail account dedicated to her. “I have been trying to ‘write’ to her, like a diary of sorts. When she is…maybe 18, I will give her the password for the e-mail box, so she can read about the milestones in her life.”
Wowie reunion
What a delight it was to see Wowie de Guzman at Chivz Lounge Bar (G-strip Greenhills). The chance encounter brought back so many memories because when my kids were in elementary school, they were fans of Wowie’s dance group, the Universal Motion Dancers (UMD). For my kids’ birthday parties, UMD would perform gratis et amore.
It’s good that Wowie’s back in circulation, after the sudden demise of his wife.
He recounted: “I’m trying my very best to be strong. The first few weeks were unbearable. I draw strength from my daughter, Alexandra Rafaelle. I am thankful that God blessed us with a baby. My wife lives on through her. Aside from a new project with GMA 7, ‘Yagit,’ my priority is to raise my baby well.”
Of the dances that Wowie has performed, rocking Alexandra to sleep is the best.
Note to Lani and Precy
I am no fair-weather friend so when news broke that Senators Bong Revilla and Jinggoy Estrada would be arrested, I sent their respective wives, Lani Mercado and Precy Ejercito, a text message.
Our friendship goes beyond politics. Our bonding moments have always been fun and pleasant. I am not one to kick someone who is already down. I truly wish them well. May this trial bring their family closer.
True survivor
Sometimes the worst woes turn out to be the best blessings in the long run.
Ai-Ai de las Alas is a true survivor of love’s many battles.
I remember how my mom (Inday Badiday) and Ai-Ai would laugh like crazy recalling the time when the comedienne almost fell off a building at the height of a lovers’ quarrel.
She’s been through hell and back in the name of love.
Now that she’s back on the prowl, what better way is there to celebrate the joys of being single (again!) than by being the endorser of Belo Medical Group’s newest procedure, Femilift? It helps women feel whole and sexier. Ai-Ai’s “Alas” is good as new.
Daddy dearest
After the hit TV show, “My Husband’s Lover,” GMA 7 is all set to take viewers on another compelling journey into the gay world via “Dading” (which premieres today after “The Half Sisters” in the Afternoon Prime block).
“Dading” is top-billed by Gabby Eigenmann as a gay man who adopts a baby girl and raises her as his own.
Despite being teased by her classmates for having a gay father, the girl loves her dad dearly.
They make one unconventional family until the biological dad returns for the girl.
Oh, my Papa! Get ready for fam bonding à la Bading!
Personal
Thanks so much to my good friends Allan and Bambi Young for always making me feel so welcome in their resto, Icebergs, my fave “comfort food” place. Being there always reminds me of my late mom, who used to hold her meetings there.
Check out their 20 branches all over the metro and you will surely become an Icebergs habitué just like Ma and me.
