Mikka Garcia, televiewer: “I’m a regular viewer of ‘Eat Bulaga.’ But, I’m dismayed by the way they treat gays in the ‘Suffer Sireyna’ portion, where contestants are subjected to different kinds of disrespect. I don’t like Vice Ganda’s offensive humor on ‘It’s Showtime,’ but it’s worse on ‘Eat Bulaga.’ Like the nude-painting controversy on ‘Pinoy Big Brother,’ the MTRCB should look into this.”
Other notes:
Alex Ignacio, businessman: “This is in response to this section’s item about the MTRCB summoning ABS-CBN executives for ‘PBB’s’ nude-painting challenge: The board should likewise train its eyes on TV programs that feature homosexuality. I’m sick and tired of shows that help promote gayness.
Social responsibility
“The networks should be aware of their social responsibility. They can argue that they take up the cudgels for homosexuals and fight for equality—but, the truth is, they’re the ones exploiting and ridiculing those individuals.”
Rodrigo Dar, Ed. D: “I hope that before ‘Ikaw Lamang’ ends, its scriptwriters would indicate where the elders in the show have found the Fountain of Youth! The kids have since grown up, but the old characters have not aged accordingly! Where does the blame fall—the makeup artists or the actors themselves, who refuse to look their age?”
Precy Tulipat, housewife: “I’m a fan of YouTube sensation, Aldrich Talonding, the teenage singer from General Santos who guested on Ellen DeGeneres’ show. I’m glad that he’ll be one of the interpreters in the upcoming PhilPop songwriting tilt via the entry, ‘Awit Mo’y Nandito Pa.’
Marlyn Lopez, OFW: “Matet de Leon had proven on ‘The Legal Wife’ that she can be an effective character actress. It didn’t hurt that she was given crisp and witty lines that viewers looked forward to in her scenes. Perhaps she could appear in one of the many film projects of her mom, Nora Aunor.”
