No Father’s Day celebration for the bickering Aguilars
Father’s Day came and went, but Maegan Aguilar didn’t see the need to greet her estranged dad, Freddie Aguilar. Their relationship remains strained to this day. As Maegan’s “soul sister,” I am still hoping against hope that time and space apart will let them see the value of what they had together.
Here’s an update on the Aguilar family feud, from Maegan:
“When my friend went to Freddie’s [home] to get the rest of my stuff, she was shocked when she saw my things already stuffed in trash bags. Many valuables were missing—like a rack of DVDs from my mom, my daughter’s flat-screen TV, my two white-gold rings and Balenciaga bag. Freddie had my room opened. I’m going nuts. I even fainted due to fatigue and frustration.
“He gave my [chest of drawers] to my brother. No wonder he kept telling my mom for me not to bring the media to his house when I have my stuff picked up. Freddie allowed my things to be stolen. My Tita Marlene said I should report it to the barangay. I am appealing to the Tulfo brothers and Gabriela to help me.”
Crossover talent
Ryan Agoncillo is one of the few TV personalities who has the “best of three worlds” since he is able to cross over from ABS-CBN to TV5 and now to GMA 7.
His latest project as a Kapuso is a sitcom called “Ismol Family,” where he is paired with Carla Abellana. It premieres on June 22 after “24 Oras Weekend.”
In the new show, Ryan portrays a loving husband to a strong-willed woman (Carla) who works abroad. The role is tailor-made for him since he is a family man in real life.
I have fond memories of Ryan during the time he would vacation in Tali, Batangas, with his friends. The beach house where they stayed at was beside my amiga’s rest house where my friends and I crashed.

What are your family rituals?
Great bonding with the family starts with early-morning kulitan. Then a lot of eating and playing. And more eating and playing.
What’s the difference being a Kapuso, Kapatid and Kapamilya?
I’m happy that I have maintained good relationships with the three networks. They may have their own styles, but I love the diversity.
What stage is your marriage with Judy Ann Santos at right now?
Always in the happy family and honeymoon phase. We celebrated our fifth wedding anniversary in New Zealand and Japan. We are working on our third baby, which we hope will come soon.

Safe, happy place
Too bad I missed the wedding of Tita Boots Anson-Roa and King Rodrigo. For someone like me, who no longer believes in marriage (been there, felt that), their nuptials could have made me change my mind.
Charisse Tinio of Nice Print Photo (the team that celebs trust to cover their milestones) shared with me these details about the Roa-Rodrigo wedding:
The wedding coincided with the groom’s 75th birthday. Tita Boots walked down the aisle at exactly 5:15 p.m. with the song “Ikaw” playing in the background.
Tita Boots, a widow, never had a grand wedding. She had a civil ceremony with the late Pete Roa, and later they had an afternoon church wedding with just a handful of people in attendance. There was no gown, no reception. Tito King made it a point to give his bride all these.
The reception, held at Wack-Wack Golf and Country Club, gathered 600 guests. Some of the celebrities at the party were: Jose Mari Chan (who serenaded the couple with the song “You and I”), Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada, Susan Roces, Pilita Corrales (who sang “Hanggang sa Dulo ng Walang Hanggan” and “And I Love You So”), Julius and Tintin Babao, Willie Nepomuceno and Ariel Ureta.
Nice Print showed a video of the couple’s love story, which included photos and footage of the wedding earlier that afternoon.
Guests at the reception were delighted to watch the video since only 100 people were invited to the church rites. The video allowed the guests to see what transpired at the ceremony.
