ALONZO. Exceptional combination of beauty and insightful thespic experience
It’s both interesting and instructive to discover that starlets and even some established stars are continuing works in a constant state of progress. This is especially true in this country, where most performing careers happen and develop without much planning, and stellar clout and popularity are notoriously short-lived.
In these parts, stars really are only as good as their last performance —or, more properly, as how their last starrer performs at the tills or in the TV ratings race!
Even big stars aren’t spared from this highly or “lowly” insecure state of things. For instance, Jericho Rosales was doing really well, until his “Panday” TV series didn’t click with viewers as much as expected.
Title character
He’s currently recovering lost ground with “My Legal Wife,” but the fact that the TV series is canted in favor of its title character (not the “My” but the “Wife!”) makes the popular show not as big a success for him as for Angel Locsin. So, there’s clearly more work for the gifted Jericho to do before he can fully fulfill his exceptional promise.
What Jericho really needs as a stellar work in progress is an attention-calling project (not an obscure indie) that’s focused on him—and becomes a big hit.
If no such offer is on the horizon, he and his handlers have to proactively “coax” it into existence—even if they have to put their own money where their hopes are!
What about rom-com “prince” John Lloyd Cruz? His current sitcom, “Home, Sweetie Home,” is underperforming in the hit and “newlywed fun and games” departments, leading some people to fear that he may be losing his Midas touch.
We don’t agree, but John Lloyd needs a big rom-com film hit to remind everyone that, when it comes to feel-good romantic fluff, he’s still the Boss.
But, he isn’t getting any younger, so after proving that, he has to move on and up, and tackle more substantial material to convince everyone that he has more to offer in this “maturing” phase of his longrunning career.
On the distaff side, the top female dramatic “princess” of the moment is Bea Alonzo, who’s both beautiful and an exceptionally believable and insightful actress.
However, her last big success was in a “smorgasbord” movie that she shared with other stars, so she must make sure that her next challenging film assignment is a solo starrer that will prove that she can “carry” a feature film all by her lonesome, with perhaps a male consort or two to dramatically-romantically interact with and “frame” her exceptional combination of beauty and insightful thespic experience—soonest!
