Taking care of trees

Now that the rainy season is upon us, we should think of positive ways to help Mother Earth, like parenting or adopting a tree and nurturing it to adulthood. Some insights to ponder:

Helping Mother Nature is about nurturing, loving and caring. It doesn’t include public relations and photo ops!

A seedling requires care, just like children need assistance and attention.

Taking care of trees means learning what their needs are and protecting them from harm.

It’s a great experience to plant fruit trees and see them “reciprocate” your caring by bearing sweet fruits.

In cities, young children can be taught to take care of small trees like calamansi or dayap in pots and learn lessons in nurturing.

Awareness

By taking care of plants, we develop sensitivity and awareness of the seasons and the changing weather.

Looking after plants is real-life nurturing, whereas playing video games is real-time wasting!

Take care of a plant and develop an interest beyond sense gratification.

When you nurture a tree, you also grow internally.

Taking care of Mother Earth is a way to reciprocate her generosity and kindness. But, this sometimes calls for sacrifice.

So, when you plant trees, take care of what you have planted. This may take years to accomplish, but that’s part of the reality of being a resident of this planet, which requires concern for the environment.
