BAMBOO. “It’s rare to find an original voice.”
Bamboo never saw himself working in the music industry. He explains, “When I was a kid, I sang and got a little money out of it—but, it was never my dream. I was resistant to music.” Music found him, however—and grew on him.
Now, he’s helping people on “The Voice.” “I am now helping talented singers get a career in the recording industry—and one of them is even recording an international album! They were brave enough to make me kulit. I like that kind of ‘hunger.’ They have the drive to make things happen.”
The singer believes that being a coach on “The Voice Kids” is more challenging: “With adults, you already have an idea where they’re headed as artists. With kids, it’s a gray area. So, I listen carefully to every contestant, so that I can justify my critiques on their performances.
“There are exceptional talents, but none of them is flawless. The judges speak more to the parents than to the young participants. It’s more heartbreaking to turn down children.
“So, when I coach kids, I don’t want them to think that it’s the end of the road if we don’t pick them. How do I choose? That’s hard to measure. These days, it’s rare to find an original voice!”
