ROSALES. Flirtatious “flings” aren’t just “harmless” fun
Thanks to all the readers, friends and colleagues who went out of their way to comment favorably on our recent piece on “The Legal Wife,” specifically the big confrontation scene between wife Angel Locsin and BFF husband-snatcher Maja Salvador. More such tongue-in-cheek sizzlers are in the offing, promise.
How could they not when, after that confrontation scene “for the ages,” “The Legal Wife’s” storytelling recently upped the heat even more, sending viewers into paroxysms of “shock and delight?”
Most recently, Angel and Jericho opted to live separately for the nonce, and their poor son took it very badly, resorting to loud and peevish tantrums that affected his schoolwork to such an extent that the little (former) angel was haled to the principal’s office for the first time.
Thus did the show pointedly remind straying dads that their flirtatious “flings” aren’t just “harmless” fun—because they hurt, not just their “legal” wives, but also their helpless and hapless children!
But, even bigger and hotter sizzlers are on the verge of being exploded on the teleserye, like Maja’s stunned discovery that she’s pregnant!
As of last viewing, the other parties involved weren’t aware of this “breaking news” development, but previously prepped, primed and “omniscient” viewers know—so you can imagine the flurry of speculations over how this latest bombshell could shatter whatever is left of Angel and Jericho’s troubled and fractured marriage!
Meanwhile, on “Ikaw Lamang,” Kim Chiu has her own heavy cross to bear, because she’s just secretly witnessed the wedding of her beloved magsasaka, played by Coco Martin, to her rival for his heart of hearts, Julia Montes. Oh, how she wept and wept—until there were no more tears left to shed, so she just grimaced and grimaced, until the overlong wedding scene finally faded to black—!
Directors really have to be more cognizant of their actors’ physical and emotional limits, and not expect them to “emote to death” till day turn into interminable night.
Elsewhere on the teleserye front, JC de Vera now has two drama series, “Moon of Desire” and “The Legal Wife,” but we must regretfully note that he isn’t faring well in either of them. What seems to be the problem?
He appears to bank too much on his good looks to carry the day for him, and has thus come up with relatively light and uninvolved portrayals.
We hope that JC decides to light a hotter fire under his thespic posterior real soon, otherwise the initial “too lightweight” impression could affect viewers’ perception of his work—for the long term.
