As a newbie in the biz, Alluring Star had an illicit affair with Closeted Benefactor. When she became successful, AS broke up with CB, who was heartbroken and turned into a recluse.
AS ended up in the claws of Influential Powerbroker, who has nothing against the casting couch.
Obsessed with AS, IP would do everything to make the talentless performer shine.
But IP interferes in every aspect of AS’ life. IP even paired AS with Ambitious Lover to confuse the suspicious.
Is AL just a red herring? A front act?
Doomed triangle
Popular Heartthrob has always been reticent about his love life. According to the grapevine, PH has been secretly living with Pretty Ingénue. But, they were forced to part ways.
PH had to follow bosses’ directive to woo Stunning Partner, who had been eyeing the guy covetously for a long time.
Will PH succumb to the demands of show business? SP can’t wait for him to be single so she can pounce!
Times two
Flamboyant Personality met up with secret lover Hunky Cutie in a popular summer destination.
Turned out, HC is involved with Sweet Star. In short, a two-timer!
Is FP just a fling for HC—or a cash cow? HC also has a nasty rep as a rent boy. Poor SS. Poor FP.
Surprise attack
Controversial Hunk was short on cash. He called longtime agent to fix him up with a wealthy “client.”
A willing date was found posthaste. When CH arrived at the hotel suite, he got the shock of his life: Lying provocatively in bed was Handsome Star, long suspected to be a closet case.
HS wanted to “surprise” CH, but he got stunned as well. CH was so spooked, he rushed out—leaving HS hanging.
Volatile beauty
From the Inquirer tabloid Bandera:
Glamorous Beauty is acting up again—constantly late for tapings and impossible to work with.
GB nitpicks about the script and demands rewrites when her lines are too long. Said a source, “She hates memorizing.” What?!
Coworkers suspect that GB is going through drastic life changes. Menopause?
There must be a reason
“There’s a reason for a snowfall… a reason why a tree’s tall…” a reason why The Cascades hits are still sung by sentimental, romantic-ditty loving Filipinos.
Cascades founder and original lead singer John Claude Gummoe says the reason is that these fans grew up on their songs. And they’re not alone. “Rhythm of the Rain,” he told the Inquirer on Monday, was covered so many times, he once found himself face to face with a girl singing it in Swahili!
John Claude is performing “all 12 songs” in “Rhythm of the Rain,” the 1963 monster hit album, in the concert “The Cascades and Classic IV,” tonight at the Solaire Hotel Ballroom. That means “Shy Girl,” “The Last Leaf,” “Angel on My Shoulder,” “Dreamin’,” “Was I Dreamin’,” “Lucky Guy,” “My First Day Alone,” “Punch and Judy,” “I Wanna Be Your Lover,” “Let Me Be” and yes, “There’s a Reason” and “Rhythm of the Rain.”
John Claude will be backed up by a band he calls Filipino Cascades. “I’ve been working with them for a long time,” he said.
Opening for John Claude is US pop artist Kyle Vincent, who is all set to tackle a classic OPM, “Hanggang,” composed by Roni and Gigi Cordero. This is a much-covered song as well, with versions by a wide variety of artists, including Anthony Castelo, Wency Cornejo, even The Madrigal Singers.
Wango Tango!
CARSON, California—Wango Tango alum Adam Levine welcomed a new generation of concert-goers to the annual, day-long music festival on Saturday.
Before performing his hit “Pay Phone,” the Maroon 5 frontman recalled his Wango debut in 2004.
“Half of you guys weren’t even alive,” said a platinum-blond Levine.
Colombian singer Shakira, British rocker Ed Sheeran and EDM producer-DJ Tiësto were the final acts at the StubHub Center.
A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera sang their emotional ballad “Say Something.” The pregnant pop star, who arrived late and breathless, said she had kicked off her heels and sprinted for the stage.
Other performers included Iggy Azalea, Ariana Grande, Calvin Harris, One Republic and Paramore. AP
Top of the Talk Shows
For those who missed this week’s TV gabfests (and why we are moved, if we are moved):
Claudine Barretto’s plea to her sister Gretchen: “Stay away from me and my children.” (Stay away from us, please.)
More venom from Claudine to Gretchen: “You say you’re happy? With your face, Botox-ed and all, I don’t see that.” (Yikes. The dreaded B word!)
Claudine on Gretchen allegedly badmouthing her: “Sabi niya sa ’kin, ‘Wala ka nang career, baboy ka… lechon! Magpakamatay ka na lang… Swear on your child’s life if you didn’t say that. I dare you… you’re such a liar.” (Arg.)
Claudine claiming that Gretchen and Marjorie bullied her: “Alam ni Gretchen ’to—she’s heartless!” (But the B keeps her from looking heartless. Sorry, ha?)
Claudine, asked if she was denying rumors that she’s mentally ill: “Yes… I was diagnosed with battered wife syndrome.” (Always get a second opinion.)
The girls’ mom, Inday: “Claudine needs love most because she’s like Jesus Christ, crucified even by people who don’t know her.” (And no one thought it could get worse.)
Rosanna Roces on being loveless: “Hanap ako nang hanap ng pagmamahal, akala ko nasa lalake. Pero hindi eh.” (Perhaps you can give a seminar.)
Rosanna, asked if she was ready to forgive those who wronged her: “Ayokong ring tadyakan ng karma. Kaya ’yung mga nagkasala sa ’yo, kung ’di mo kayang patawarin, huwag mo ring lingunin.”
(Korek!)
Heart Evangelista, asked if she texted her mom on Mother’s Day: “No, it’s a very complicated situation.” (That’s true.)
Heart to boyfriend Sen. Chiz Escudero, about their coming trip to Paris: “You should be flattered. I was saving Paris for the person I’m sure I’ll end up with. And since I’m sure I’ll end up with you, we’re going to Paris…Kaya mag-propose ka na!” (Nothing scares a man more profoundly than this kind of pressure.)
Lovi Poe, asked if she and Rocco Nacino were in a relationship: “I don’t want to wrap my head around the idea of us being committed, although what we have is beautiful.” (Yes or no lang, ’teh.)
Lovi on what she likes about Rocco: “He’s very funny… and the fact that he’s a nurse makes me… attracted to him! Plus, he’s good-looking.” (And he’s good to his mom.)
Lovi, asked if she and Rocco stayed in one room during their trip in Europe: “Well, may connecting door… at least!” (You could have just said you had different rooms.)
Gab Valenciano on what he told her mom Angeli Pangilinan before he proposed to his girlfriend Tricia Centenera: “The person I’m going to end up with is someone that resembles you in my life… [Tricia is] someone I know I can be safe with.” (Aww. Congratulations, you two!)
Sunshine Cruz on the prospect of dating again: “Uunahin ko muna ’yung trabaho, pag-iipon at mga anak ko… ang hirap pumasok sa isang relasyon kung hindi pa nagsasara totally ang past ko.” (No rush.)
