CHRISTOPHER de Leon and Nora Aunor in “Banaue”

Gerardo de Leon’s “Banaue” will have a special screening at the Tanghalang Manuel Conde of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) on Saturday, May 17, 4 p.m. The free screening is part of the yearlong celebration of the centennial of the national artist for film.

The movie’s lead actress and producer, Nora Aunor, is expected to grace the occasion. The 1975 film tells the story of the Ifugao tribe, builders of the famed Banaue Rice Terraces.

The screening is presented by the CCP, Society of Filipino Archivists for Film, and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts. Seats are limited, so seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Bayani San Diego Jr.
