PULP Summer Slam ’14: A day of metal mayhem
MANILA, Philippines—Approximately 30,000 souls gathered at the historic Amoranto Stadium in Quezon City last April 26, 2014 for a day of mayhem as PULP Live World brought seven international acts and seven of the country’s best bands to play at the longest-running and the largest annual metal festival in Southeast Asia: PULP SUMMER SLAM.
Now on its 14th year, PULP SUMMER SLAM 14: Children of the Damned was bigger and heavier than ever before. Headliners Bullet for My Valentine and Asking Alexandria both delivered powerful performances that kept the 30,000-strong crowd on their feet as midnight approached. Heavy-hitters Hatebreed unleashed its brand of metal to a pumped-up audience. Crowd favorite Death Angel and first-time Slam performers Kreator provided an onslaught of hits, brutally presented to thousands of moshing bodies. The Black Dahlia Murder filled the Amoranto Stadium with their distinct melodic death metal sound. Japanese metal sensations Crossfaith surpassed expectations as they led a commanding performance with their electrifying set.
The finest bands in the Philippines made the country proud with their stellar performances. Rizal’s Galaw Tao officially opened PULP SUMMER SLAM 14, followed by a notable performance from Voice of Tranquility. David vs. Goliath, Embercore, SucketSeven, and Sickpig all gave strong performances. Finally, Tubero capped the night off with fury through an entertaining and wild set that had the crowd leaving Amoranto Stadium with smiles on their faces and satisfied ears.
