The social network site Twitter got her in trouble recently, but model and veejay Georgina Wilson takes full responsibility for her tweets.
Georgina caused a commotion when she expressed her opinion about the purported meeting between American socialite Paris Hilton and President Benigno Aquino III (which eventually went pfft).
“Twitter isn’t just there so you can post what you’ve had for breakfast or that you have a good-hair day,” she quips during her launch as endorser of Häagen-Dazs with football player Phil Younghusband. “I enjoy chatting about those things… but I also like expressing my opinions.”
She wants to clarify, however, that she’s no Paris or P-Noy “hater.” “My tweet only means that I love our country. It saddens me that some people reacted negatively, but I’m also glad that it caused a stir because it showed that today’s young people are not apathetic.”
If there’s one lesson from the entire controversy, she says, “it taught me to stand by my beliefs.”
After all, Georgina concedes that she comes from a family of feisty and fearless females.
“It runs in my blood,” she admits. “My aunt (former Miss Universe) Gloria (Diaz) is quite opinionated, too. I probably got it from her.”
Does she see the Diazes top-billing a reality show, just like her favorites, the Kardashians?
“That would be interesting. But it could also be stressful because I’m not sure how much I can show… I don’t want cameras to be rolling as I wake up in the morning.”
Fair share
Speaking of gregarious celebs, Georgina has met her fair share in her stint as host of the chat show “The Source,” aired on Star World.
“The most challenging and interesting interviewee would be Damon Albarn of Gorillaz,” she recalls. “He was so critical and wasn’t afraid to express himself. He said that he hated Asian pop. I was so nervous and kept asking myself: ‘Will this ever air on Channel [V] Asia?’”
She hit it off with Kanye West, too.
“Kanye was the most engaging,” she says. “He’s very much into fashion and the arts. He’s accommodating and down-to-earth. I know ‘down-to-earth’ is an overused word in describing celebrities, but I didn’t expect that he’d be that easy to talk to.”
She also had a blast with Usher and John Mayer. “It was fun hanging out with them,” she recalls.
Georgina has had no horror stories so far. “Everyone’s been pleasant. Stars are just human beings and they just want a real conversation.”
In the interest of getting real, her own love life with fellow model Borgy Manotoc is fine, thank you.
“He’s intelligent, patient and loves eating ice cream with me. I’m very happy,” Georgina says.
If Borgy were a Häagen-Dazs flavor, what would he be? Georgina inexplicably turns coy, but says that her faves are Belgian chocolate, green tea and strawberry.
But if ex-beau Richard Gutierrez were an ice cream flavor?
“I’m not so sure anymore,” she quips.
