Robin Padilla unhappy with Kapamilya ‘teleserye’

/ 06:07 PM September 18, 2011

Heard that Robin Padilla wasn’t too happy that “Guns N’ Roses,” his teleserye with Bea Alonzo in the Kapamilya network, didn’t rate so well. That’s why he might move to another network.

Perhaps it was just the wrong project. Or maybe it was ill-timed since Binoe just got hitched to Mariel Rodriguez and he was paired with Bea, whose current BF, Zanjoe Marudo, happens to be the ex of Mariel. What a strange rigodon de amor!

Hopefully, Binoe’s next project will maximize his charisma so it would be like the bang of guns and the sweet smell of roses for him again.

Cesar Montano comes to the defense of his “Hitman” leading lady Sam Pinto, who is being criticized by detractors for not living up to her star billing.

“Just because take one ka parati sa eksena doesn’t mean you’re a good actor,” Buboy explains. “Kahit nga si Al Pacino gusto niya ulit-ulitin ang take till ma-perfect niya. Unfair naman sabihin na di marunong umarte si Sam. Baguhan pa lang siya but she’s a fast learner.”

Sam doesn’t hide her admiration for Buboy. “Who wouldn’t fall for him? But he’s taken na,” she says. “I’ve met Sunshine and we’re okay. I really prefer older men because I want to be babied.”

FHM’s Sexiest Woman hasn’t lost that “little girl” in her who longs to be pampered. In many ways, the hot babe is still a “baby.”

Dramatic comeback

My kumareng Janice de Belen is raring to do drama again in ABS-CBN’s “Budoy,” where she plays the stepmom of Gerald Anderson.

“I’ve fallen in love with the project,” she says. “It reminds me of my ‘Flor de Luna’ days but on a different level na.”

If she didn’t have kids of her own, would she be willing to adopt one just like her character did in the series? “I won’t be able to say for sure until I’m in that situation.”

Now that she’s in the same network as her ex John Estrada, is she willing to work with him?  “I don’t see the need for it,” she says. “Nothing personal though.” Not even as a guest on John’s noontime show, “Happy Yippee Yehey?” “Sorry but I’m an ‘Eat Bulaga’ fan (laughs).”  Pass the emote, este, remote control please!

Taking risks

Albert Martinez is at the prime of his life. He has a new mystery-serye, “Nasaan Ka Elisa,” on ABS-CBN and an awesome Belo billboard to boot.

“Elisa is a high-risk project. It has no anchor actor,” he points out. “It’s not a traditional soap with a familiar plot. New concept in execution, scoring and editing. It’s very challenging for me and my coactors. I love challenges. Taking risks is the reason I’m still active in the industry. As for my billboard, I’m happy I achieved my goal of staying fit and healthy at 50. It’s worth the years of discipline.”

At his age, Albert is still oozing with sex appeal. How does he stay away from temptation? “I just focus on my family for whom I’ve worked so hard all these years,” he says. “I wouldn’t be crazy to let it go down the drain. My family is my foundation.”

I know very well how Little (Albert’s pet name) moved heaven and earth for Liezl and their kids when they were still struggling in the United States, since I was a witness to their colorful love story from day one.

I can’t help but smile seeing that Big things are now coming Little’s way. Success could not have found a more deserving person.
