LOS ANGELES— Rapper 2 Chainz has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance in a case filed after his arrest at Los Angeles International Airport.
District attorney’s spokeswoman Jane Robison says the rapper, whose real name is Tauheed Epps, was sentenced Monday to an 18-month drug diversion program, and a felony drug possession charge was dropped.
Robison says the misdemeanor charge will be dropped if Epps successfully completes the program.
The 36-year-old rapper was arrested in June after airport officials reported finding ingredients for the cough-syrup-based concoction known as “sizzurp” in his checked baggage.
A call to Epps’ attorney Leonard Levine was not immediately returned.
The Grammy-nominated rapper is best known for his hits “Birthday Song,” ”I’m Different” and “Feds Watching.”
