Cornejo now in Taguig RTC

MANILA, Philippines—A day after she surrendered to police authorities, model Deniece Cornejo on Tuesday morning was brought to the Taguig Regional Trial Court (RTC) .

A report from Radyo Inquirer 990AM said Cornejo left Camp Crame in Quezon City early Tuesday and arrived at the Taguig RTC around 8:00 a.m.

The report said Cornejo was to be presented to Taguig RTC Branch 271 Judge Paz Esperanza Cortes who issued the warrant of arrest against her and five others charged with serious illegal detention filed by TV host-actor Vhong Navarro.

The trial court,  according to the report, will decide as to where Cornejo will be detained.

On Monday,  Cornejo surrendered to the Philippine National Police at Camp Crame in Quezon City after nearly two weeks in hiding. She spent the night in a cell at the Anti-Transnational Crime Unit of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, where she joined about seven to eight female suspects held for human trafficking activities.

Cornejo is one of the accused in the serious illegal detention case filed by Navarro. The charge is a nonbailable offense.
