In love … with acting
Pop-rock artist Yeng Constantino has fallen in love with acting, following her screen debut in writer-director Siege Ledesma’s “Shift.” The indie movie, about an unlikely romance between two call center agents, won the Grand Prix award at the recent Osaka Asian Film Festival in Japan.
“If I am offered another good acting project soon, I’ll grab it,” Yeng, currently sporting purple hair, told the Inquirer during the recent MYX Music Awards 2014. “We shot for only six days—three in a call center, another three outside. We had a great time.”
Yeng, named MYX Favorite Female Artist for the fourth straight year, said her singing background helped her internalize her character, Estela, who falls for her gay trainer, Trevor (Felix Roco).
“When I sing, I commit myself to the words or message. I may not be heartbroken, but if I’m asked to sing about heartbreak, I will imagine that I am,” said the 24-year-old. “Acting is similar in that regard. It’s an exercise I’d like to do again.” Allan Policarpio
