MANILA, Philippines—One more night.

The second of a two-night concert showcasing Gary Valenciano’s greatest hits will happen at Smart Araneta Coliseum Saturday night, culminating the concert artist’s 30th year in the business.

“Arise Gary V 3.0,” a grand musical event, opened last night, with hit songs culled from the singer-composer’s catalog of 28 multiplatinum, full-length studio albums of original Pilipino music (OPM) classics.

The title, “Arise Gary V 3.0,” likens the concert artist to a computer software that keeps upgrading himself and his craft every year, making him more and more relevant.

“Arise” is expected to be the ultimate throwback OPM concert for 2014. On April 13, 1984, exactly 30 years ago, he first mounted his sold-out “A-Live” concert at the Araneta coliseum.

Under the musical direction of Mon Faustino, the concert is codirected by Gary V and Paolo Valenciano.

Special guests include Sarah Geronimo, Rico Blanco, Sam Concepcion, Iya Villania, Gabriel Valenciano, Kiana Valenciano, Aka Jam, DJ Papi, Tom Taus, Buganda, G-Force, The Manoeuvres and LSDC.

Proceeds of the concert will go to the survivors of Supertyphoon “Yolanda” and Shining Light Foundation, United Nations Children’s Fund and Operation Blessing Foundation.
