Fine actors deliver in ‘teleserye’

Cecile Genove, journalist/teacher: “‘Ikaw Lamang’ compels me to rush home from work. Its period theme is effectively woven into the entire story, and its actors’ roles fit them to a T.

“I particularly admire Angel Aquino’s subdued portrayal. As always, Cherie Gil does not seem to be  acting at all. The Ruins in Talisay, Bacolod, provides an authentic backdrop for the unfolding drama, although the hacendero-sakada plot is a little predictable.”

Rosie Dizon, televiewer: “What’s wrong with Boy Abunda and Kris Aquino? They seem to be too  interested in the sexual affairs of other people. In an interview, Abunda asked Gary Valenciano: ‘Whom would you have a one-night stand with, if you were not married?’ Aquino posed the same question to Sen. Nancy Binay.

“Why are they so fixated on sex? Haven’t they thought of the  repercussions on the interviewees and their spouses?”

Orly Agawin, organizational development consultant: “Gloc 9’s ‘Sirena,’ featuring Ebe Dancel, is an emotive rendition of a commonly used genre popular with an ‘angry’ generation. It conveys a common sentiment among the LGBT community.”

Marie Ramirez, CPA: “Top scriptwriter, Ricky Lee, has achieved a lot—he empowered women in ‘Moral’ and ‘Relasyon,’ debunked religious myths in ‘Himala.’ and tackled gender complexities with grace and humor in ‘Ang Kuwento ni B.’ Sadly, however, many Filipinos don’t know much about him.
