Bimby’s birthday wish: More rich Filipinos

MANILA, Philippines —For his birthday, the presidential sister’s son Bimby Yap has one wish for his country – to make more Filipinos richer.

Bimby’s wish caught the attention of President Benigno Aquino III, who personally greeted his nephew on Thursday during the show of his sister and Bimby’s mother Kris Aquino.

In a video aired on Kris Aquino’s show “KrisTV,” the President said he is doing all he can to make Bimby’s wish come true.

“I heard that your birthday wish for world peace and for every Filipino to be rich. I want you to know that the vast majority of our countrymen are trying very hard to make their wishes come true,” Aquino said.

“We are working to make the country safer and to make sure that the poor get the help they need,” the President added.

Aquino then advised Bimby that he also has to make a role to make the country better.

“When you grow up, it is you and the rest of your generation who will have the responsibility of making the Philippines an even greater country than it is now,” the President said.

Aquino also urged Bimby to be as “kind” as he is today and “do your part in helping our country reach greater heights.”

The President ended his greeting by reminding Bimby about his promise to give his uncle some donuts.

“I also hope that you have not forgotten about the donuts you promised me. I’m looking forward to eating them with you,” Aquino said.

Aquino made the video after the latest Pulse Asia Survey showed that the president’s trust and performance ratings slightly dipped for the first quarter of 2014.

The survey results showed a decline despite major breakthroughs in the Aquino administration, among them the anticipated historic signing of the peace pact between government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, as well as the arrests of high-profile fugitive businessman Delfin Lee and top communist leaders Benito and Wilma Tiamzon.

Meanwhile, Bimby’s mother Kris took to Instagram to express her gratitude for her brother.

“I text my brother last night to thank him. I told him how truly blessed and grateful I am to have a Kuya who loves me and has always been consistently there for me and my sons,” Kris said.
