Screen classics deserve to be revisited
“MAGNIFICO.” Still a viewable treat
Felipe Pustanes, businessman: “Maryo J. delos Reyes’ ‘Magnifico’ is a screen classic that deserves to be revisited. Jiro Manio’s performance was memorable, and I predicted a rosy future ahead for him. Sadly, fate has not been kind—but I’m hoping that he can still bounce back.
“Lino Brocka’s ‘Tinimbang Ka Ngunit Kulang’ is another classic that remains a viewable treat to this day, due to its perfect casting: Lolita Rodriguez, Mario O’Hara, Hilda Koronel, etc.”

Milagros Zaraspe, housewife: “It’s about time that Nora Aunor and Vilma Santos appear together in another movie. On stage I’d also like to see Regine Velasquez and Lea Salonga in a concert. Their exceptional voices and different singing styles will create musical magic!”

“Whether it’s true or not, Anne should remember that she will always be at the receiving end of bashers each time she figures in unpleasant situations.”
Terry Abu, office employee: “It seems that nobody is checking on the way some news anchors mispronounce words during a newscast, like Noli de Castro reading ‘shoal’ as ‘shawl’ in Ayungin Shoal. Ted Failon should also be reminded that it’s ‘counterflow,’ not counterflaw. And, while we’re at it, Mel Tiangco’s nasal style of speaking distracts. Thank God for the remote control.”
