Karylle’s newest single “Kiss You,” taken from her latest self-titled studio-release, has started to gradually climb up the local charts already. That is an indication “Kiss You” is gaining more attention and popularity with different music groups.

There is no mistaking that Karylle is probably trying to reach also a much younger audience as it is a “feel-good” dance-pop song and Katy Perry-esque with its choice of lyrics.

The latter observation isn’t a bad thing at all. It is, in fact, a good basis if ever you had to be compared to a foreign female pop star as, naturally, you would want to be likened to one of the most popular and commercially successful artists globally. I think this song achieves that distinction quite well without it sounding like a cheap knock-off!

The musical direction that Karylle has shown here does remind music aficionados that the “firm hold” dance-pop music has these days—even from our side of the globe—isn’t going away any time soon.

What is the overall production value of this single?

What this song provides the listener is a superb production since the sound engineers of “Kiss You” were able to utilize some of the latest trendy beats and to apply more modern recording techniques throughout the duration of “Kiss You.” All of the engineering done in the recording studio for this single did equal positive results!

I also noticed that even though Karylle’s voice had some minor vocal effects added into it—a practice commonly used nowadays in dance-pop songs—those added effects tweaked into her voice aren’t that overpowering which otherwise would have made her voice sound too “robotic.”.

In fact, you can still hear Karylle belt out a bit towards the end of her single “Kiss You” and she gets to sing with more inflection in her voice over her pre-recorded vocals in the last section of the song.

Thumbs Up!
