MANILA, Philippines—Saying it is not right to look for another when you already have someone, Daniel Padilla inadvertently claimed that his on-screen partner Kathryn Bernardo is the only woman in his life.
“Bakit ka pa manliligaw? Hindi na tama ‘yon ‘di ba? Parang binigay mo na ang sarili mo sa isang babae tapos manliligaw ka pa ng iba (Why should I woo somebody else? That is not right. It is like you have already committed yourself to one person, but you would still aim for someone else?),” Padilla said in a Bandera report.
Although the 18-year-old actor has not confirmed yet that he is officially in a romantic relationship with Bernardo, Padilla neither denied the rumors.
But when asked to comment if other guys could still attempt to court Bernardo, Padilla quipped “Okay lang naman. Kaso masyado nang matigas ‘yong lalaking ‘yon kung manliligaw pa siya (It is fine with me. But that guy would be quite audacious if he would still court her).”
Religion not a problem
Padilla also believes that love, indeed, transcends religion.
In a previous Philippine Daily Inquirer report, the teen actress, a member of Iglesia ni Cristo (INC), said she would date only a guy who shares her religious beliefs.
Padilla is a Roman Catholic, meaning, he should consider converting if he decides to pursue Bernardo.
The 18-year-old actress earlier admitted that Padilla was special to her, but would not commit to him yet.
“Religion is one of the factors, but it’s mainly because we don’t want our love life to interfere with our careers right now,” she said in the Inquirer report.
Bernardo also said she once invited Padilla to attend an INC service but it never happened again because the actor had his own Sunday activities.
“We sometimes talk about differences in teachings between INC and the Catholic church. Nakikiramdam ako,” she said. “If one wills [to convert], madaling gawan ng paraan. My dad, a Catholic, converted to be with my mom.”
But Padilla said he will never let their differing religions get in the way.
Though he added that it is “too early” for them to decide on the matter.
