Follow-up projects, please

RODRIGUEZ. Another potential hit coming up?

Jess Barrera, televiewer: “What’s keeping GMA 7 from giving follow-up projects to ‘My Husband’s Lover’s’ Carla Abellana, Dennis Trillo and Tom Rodriguez? It has been months since the much-talked-about teleserye went off the air, but we have yet to hear about what the network is cooking up for them.”

Sunny Cusi, businessman: “After months of forced ‘vacation,’ ‘Eat Bulaga’s’ ‘prodigal son,’ Willy Bayola, recently reappeared on the noontime show to grace Jose Manalo’s birthday. As expected, it turned out to be a tearful reunion.

“Wally apologized for his indiscretion, and I’m sure he’ll be given a second chance, because his teamup with Jose was such a hit. Let’s hope that his fans will be as forgiving as his ‘EB’ colleagues, and that he’s sincerely learned his lessons well.”

Other notes:

Simplicio Mojica, mass comm teacher: “I find it strange that a lot of Fil-Am celebrities have not mastered the Filipino language. I’ve always believed that they won’t stay long in the industry if they continue to speak Filipino with a twang. The public just can’t accept that.”

Times have changed

Erica Nuqui, housewife: “Time was when the beauty secrets of our local stars were kept, well, secret. But, times have changed—now, local celebrities openly admit going through beauty-enhancement procedures.

“Angeline Quinto acknowledges that she had her eyes done and is even contemplating having her nose fixed. Lani Misalucha also gamely admits that she’s had a nose job and is proud of her ‘new’ look.”

Lea Carreon, government employee: “Couldn’t the production people behind the MTRCB infomercial shown before each movie screening find better actors to appear in it?”
