MANILA, Philippines—The Department of Justice (DOJ) panel of prosecutors turned down the request of model Deniece Cornejo to reschedule the hearing on the criminal case filed by the National Bureau of Investigation and comedian-TV host Vhong Navarro against her.
Preliminary investigation for the serious illegal detention, serious physical injury, grave threats, grave coercion, illegal arrest and blackmail case against Cornejo, Cedric Lee, his sister Bernice, Ferdinand Guerrero and Zimmer Rance was scheduled for Feb. 14 at 2 p.m.
Prosecutor General Claro Arellano said Cornejo sought a postponement citing a scheduled court hearing before the Taguig Court.
Cornejo filed a case before the Taguig court for a protection order against Navarro.
“The panel has already scheduled the preliminary investigation and Deniece and the others were notified even before the scheduled court hearing in Taguig,” Arellano said in a text message Thursday.
Navarro filed the case against them after the mauling incident last Jan. 22.
Members of the investigating panel are Assistant State Prosecutors Olivia Torrevillas, Hazel Decena-Valdez and Mari Elvira Herrera.
