MANILA, Philippines — Singer-actress Vina Morales on Wednesday denied a news report saying she once filed a complaint of physical abuse before the Police Security and Protection Group (PSPG) against controversial businessman Cedric Lee.
Lee is the father of Morales’ four-year-old daughter Ceana.
In a statement sent to the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Morales’ lawyer Ariel Radovan said that “news tidbits with reference to the infliction of physical violence at any given time to her person by Mr. Lee is purely fictional, conjectural and speculative.”
A TV report that aired on Tuesday said Morales’ complaint became the basis for the PSPG to pull out the security escorts it assigned to Lee in 2012.
“Morales has already exercised her rights through our firm by instituting legal recourse which is of public knowledge and record,” Radovan said. “We appeal to everyone to spare our client, especially the young Ceana, from negative, undue and unjust publicity they don’t deserve.”
Radovan added that “The Navarro-Lee affair is beyond Morales. Let us endeavor to give her peace.” Lee is a protagonist in actor-TV host Vhong Navarro’s mauling case.
