We were fortunate to see the special preview of Gabby Fernandez’s “Mana” (showing on Feb. 19), directed by Gabby Fernandez and produced by De La Salle-College of St. Benilde for its silver jubilee celebrations.
Cherie Gil didn’t have second thoughts about acting in the film. She explains, “I knew I would be working with fine actors—and I loved acting with my brother (Mark Gil)!” For his part, Jaime Fabregas says that it was a challenge to act with its impressive cast. He recalls, “So, I worked hard on my character and went to the set ready with my lines. I am glad that, at my age, I continue to work as an actor.”
“Mana” follows a dysfunctional family with a disturbing secret. When its influential matriarch becomes seriously ill, the future of the political clan becomes uncertain. The cast also includes Tetchie Agbayani, Ricky Davao, Epy Quizon and Fides Cuyugan-Asensio.
