Justin Bieber faces assault charges in Toronto—reports

OTTAWA— Pop star Justin Bieber is expected to go to a Toronto police station Wednesday to be formally charged with assaulting a limousine driver last December, local media said.

Toronto police said in a Twitter message, however, that they “cannot confirm” the reports.

Canadian public broadcaster CBC said Bieber had been to the city on December 29 and was coming back from watching a hockey game when police were called to intervene in an altercation.

Details of the incident were not available.

If true, it is the latest problems for the 19-year-old heartthrob after his home in Los Angeles was searched in connection with an alleged egging of his neighbor’s house, and his arrest in Miami for drag racing and impaired driving.

Also Wednesday, the White House was asked to weigh in on Bieber’s bad behavior after it received a petition with more than 100,000 signatures calling for the Canadian-born signer to be deported.
