MANILA, Philippines—Actor-host Vhong Navarro found another ally in Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., who strongly condemned the brutality that the actor had suffered in the hands of his attackers.
Revilla said he is not close to Navarro but as a colleague in show business, he said he would also like to know the real story behind the actor’s mauling.
“Based on what we’re hearing, he was really abused. To do something in his genital is just too much,” he said.
“If he really did something bad to the girl, he should have been sent to jail. But he should not be treated like that,” said Revilla, referring to Deniece Cornejo, who accused Navarro of attempted rape.
Revilla noted that it was not the first time that Cedric Lee and his group, who were allegedly responsible for Navarro’s mauling, got involved in a similar incident, citing the case of the businessman and former athlete David Bunevacz.
He said he himself had asked the National Bureau of Investigation to investigate the case of Bunevacz, who had also been allegedly beaten up by Lee and his cohorts.
“Baka mamaya maulit pa. Mabiktima nya kung sinu-sino Kailangan matigil na yan,” said the senator.
Lee claimed that they beat up Navarro after they caught him on top of Cornejo at the latter’s condo unit in Taguig last January 22.
“Let’s find out the truth because if the woman was indeed raped, that’s unfair for the woman. But if (Vhong) was treated badly that’s also unfair for Vhong. If they erred then both have to held liable,” Revilla said.
