MANILA, Philippines— Businessman Cedric Lee who was accused of ordering his men to attack actor Vhong Navarro said in a television interview that he caught the actor on top of Deniece Millet Cornejo in a condominium unit in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.
He said that there were no people in the unit’s living room so he, his sister and another companion went straight to the bedroom, which was only partitioned by a curtain.
“When we went to the bedroom, and I saw a naked man, with his shorts down, and on top of Deniece,” said Lee in Filipino. “And Deniece was screaming and kicking at the man.”
Lee said that his first instinct was to grab Navarro, whom he did not immediately recognize, and take him down to the floor.
He added that Cornejo went straight to his sister as he and his companion tried to restrain the naked actor.
“The two girls already left the room so it was only me, Navarro and my friend inside,” Lee said. “We were restraining him, persuading him to wear some clothes so the police can do their work, but he was punching us so we had nothing else to do but to fight back which resulted in his bruised face.”
The businessman said that his friend managed to find a duct tape in the condominium unit and the two managed to tie Navarro’s hands.
“We taped his hands and restrained him so he won’t be able to run away while we call the police. Then when we asked him what he was doing, he offered us his apology on his actions towards Deniece,” Lee said. “Navarro was pleading with us not to file charges as it may affect his career and he doesn’t know how to explain the incident to his children.”
Lee said that Navarro should not apologize to him but to Cornejo for his actions.
