Pops Fernandez and Joey Generoso usher in the New Year with “Toast,” a special show at Solaire Resort and Casino.

Starting at 7 p.m., Marmalade and Puresounds will alternate for two sets prior to “Toast.”

JAZZ singer-songwriter Patti Austin, who has headlined several shows in the Philippines since 1973, is back for two fundraisers for the survivors of Supertyphoon “Yolanda.”

Last night at Solaire Resort and Casino, Austin performed with Lea Salonga, Richard Merk and Martin Nievera.

Tomorrow, she goes onstage at the Fairmont Makati, again with Merk, plus Emcy Corteza, and the Sticky Band.

Austin, who plans to stay in the country until Jan. 6, said she hoped to help build new homes for calamity survivors through Habitat for Humanity. She said  she also wanted to fly to the hard-hit cities in the Visayas.

“I’m happy to give back and do something. We can rebuild this magnificent place,” she told reporters on Saturday. “There may be devastation, but it won’t last very long because there’s so much goodness in everyone’s hearts here.”
