Uge: Thanks to technology, Kimmy is able to slap Dora

Eugene Domingo feels guilty about repeatedly punching fellow actor Sam Milby during a series of fight scenes for their coming fantasy-comedy flick, “Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel.”
“Hinalikan na nga ako, sinapak ko pa,” Eugene told the Inquirer. “I kept saying sorry to Sam. Each time I hit him, I promised to give him a present.”
The third “Kimmy Dora” franchise, directed by Chris Martinez, is an official entry in the 2013 Metro Manila Film Festival that begins on Christmas Day.
Eugene, who plays twin sisters Kimmy and Dora Godonghae, said: “The film was hard to do in all aspects. I guess it was because it’s a prequel. The twins are younger and portraying them required youthfulness. I didn’t get bruised but my body ached all over.”
“Kimmy Dora 3,” the last of three installments, is set before “Kambal sa Kiyeme” and the twins are seen disputing the ownership of the family corporation.
The award-winning actress said she was especially proud of the film for being the first local production to use the latest technology called the Modula series in DLSR cameras and rigs. “It deals with motion control and is very complicated. Here, Kimmy is able to slap Dora. There is contact between the two characters that I portray,” she said.
Eugene added: “It’s about time Filipinos caught up with the technology used abroad. I believe filmmaking is not only about drama or comedy, it’s also about science.”
Your coactors say Kimmy is really scary.
When I’m in Kimmy mode, the staff members hardly speak to me. But when I change to Dora, they all of a sudden become chatty with me.
Do you still have a Christmas wish?
My wish is for the whole country to finally be ready to celebrate Christmas despite the tragedies that have happened.
What can your supporters expect from you in 2014?
I will concentrate on “Celebrity Bluff” for the first half of 2014. Also, my “Barber’s Tales” director, Jun Robles Lana, and I will work on promoting the movie. [Then] I will start shooting a movie for Star Cinema … I think “Here Comes the Bride,” part two.
How would you describe the current state of indie filmmaking in the country?
It’s still struggling but at least the filmmakers—both the veterans and the young ones—are churning out beautiful movies.
