Bouncing back after the storms

In the aftermath of Supertyphoon “Yolanda,” our thoughts now turn inward… and upward. We ponder how much more we can ease the burden of the victims and storm the gates of heaven for their full recovery.
We have all had our share of storms that left a “Yolandific” dent in us. Although no struggle could possibly compare to the impact of the typhoon on our Visayan brothers and sisters, perhaps just knowing how some of our fave celebs bounced back after a major fall could somehow inspire us to find hope among the ruins.
OGIE ALCASID: Many storms have come into my life, and it was always God who bailed me out. At our weakest, the Lord becomes the strongest. My separation from Michelle (van Eimeren) was perhaps the worst that I experienced, but God healed us both.
DEREK Ramsay
DEREK RAMSAY: I’ve had many storms in my life. One of the worst was when I shattered my forearm in a Frisbee competition. For someone as athletic as I am, that was a big blow. I had 15 screws and three plates put in. My family and friends helped me get back on my feet, and prayers helped me recover fast.
KARYLLE: The biggest storm for me was when my parents separated when I was still very young. I survived because there were angels, good people, all over my path. The more I acknowledged their presence in my life, the more I understood that God would make sure that I wasn’t alone… Openness, faith, the grace of God and a lot of tears got me through.
JACKIE LOU BLANCO: One of the worst storms for me was a breakup, long ago. Crying and work helped. But more than that was the loving support of my mom, family and friends. Most importantly, it was my faith in God that helped me get through each day.
CHRISTIAN BAUTISTA: The worst storm in my life was when I learned that my mom had cancer. I overcame it by having faith—believing that God would see us through. And he did.

Jeepney TV, or JTV, the channel providing daily doses of throwbacks on SkyCable, celebrated its first anniversary with the concert “Hapi-Hapi Kaara-One.”

Held at 19 East Bar and Grill in Parañaque last Nov. 15, the event urged attendees to help out in the relief efforts of the Sagip Kapamilya campaign. Gary and Paolo Valenciano, Radha Cuadrado and the band Fair Warning rocked the house.
